kiff (ki:f) / adjective – Southern African slang meaning “excellent”, “cool”
I am going to get this word globalized if its the last thing I do. The word “kiff” brings back so many great memories as a child. My brother Craig was part of the “Groover Gang”, a group of young boys that did the kind of things that young boys did. When they were on their BMX bikes doing stunts on the street the response would be “Woah, kiff man!” – translation: “Woah, super cool stunt man”, but then with so much more power!
The girls, undoubtedly watching the guys in the “Groover Gang” would be browsing through magazines looking for their next purchase and the response would be: “Take a look at this kiff dress” – translation: “I need this gorgeous dress”.
So just like the “F” word that has a multitude of uses, the word “kiff” has a multitude of uses too, but at the end of the day it all comes down to cool, excellent, awesome and most importantly “I have to have it!”.
I hope that there is an item on the site that inspires the feeling of “kiffness” I would love to share with you.
